Start your day with a Warm up
Introduce yourself to the class, tell us your all time favorite game and why you love it. Tell us about gaime you are playing now if you re playing one and another thing you enjoy doing (baking, painting, metal work, sorcery, whatever (school appropriate).
Alright, alright, so I am in IGD. What is this class really all about?
IGD is kind of run like a studio and you are getting hired as an entry level trainee. We start the day with a warm up, this gets your brain going and hopefully stimulates interesting conversation while we get ready for the lesson. The warm-up is usually a summary and your opinion on an article or topic. Then we get to the lesson, this is your on the job training. This is where I go over the tools and demonstrate how to use them. Together we learn the tools and then create a game from scratch.
I want to take a moment to recognize that you are all pretty clever people and because of this, you will discover clever ways of doing new things. This is exactly what this class is about BUT this is also a Career Technical Education Class. What this means for my world is that need to show you one clear path to get from start to finish, practice the route and make sure you are ready to do it on your own.
Then your training is done! You are your team are put on a project and they need to deliver a game. This is where you start finding your own shortcuts or hopefully discover a new route that nobody has ever thought of before.
So that is the class
IGD Studios has to deliver games
You and your team are responsible for delivering a launch ready game for the studio
Will there be difficulties? YES! Making games isn’t that tough but making great games is insanely hard. Most great things don’t come easy, you will have roadblocks but you will also have breakthroughs and do things your never thought you could do.
We doing this?
